Users can create wishlists in order to share a person's wanted or requested items; these lists are useful for birthdays and holidays. This is a completely optional feature designed to help certain customers with certain needs. For information on creating and using wishlists, click here.
In order for our wishlists to function in a useful manner, we must share certain information with potential gifters. Therfore, when you create a wishlist, special exceptions to our Privacy Policy occur. By creating a wishlist, you agree to our Privacy Policy and to this additional notice.
When you create a wishlist, you are asked to enter your full name and mailing address. Your name allows gifters to search for and locate your wishlist. Your mailing address tells gifters where to send presents.
A wishlist publicly shares the full name and mailing address tied to the wishlist. No other account information is shared. For most people, the information revealed does not share a privacy threat, as their names and addresses are already online on phonebook websites. However, for safety purposes, we do recommend that parents supply their name instead of their child's name.
For people with special privacy needs, if you do not feel comfortable giving out your full name and address, you can use fake information, such as a pseudonymn. You will need to notify giftees of this nickname in advance in order for them to locate your wishlist, or you can share a direct link to your wishlist (click here). For your address, enter fake information. Alternatively, you can enter instructions across the fields (i.e., Street Address: bring gifts City: to birthday party). Again, if you use a fake address, you will want to notify giftees not to use the address supplied in the wishlist.
If you believe that creating a wishlist will pose a privacy threat, please do not make one.
